In an exciting development for the K-W Jewish community, Sobeys Bridgeport and Chabad are partnering on a Kosher Initiative to bring more kosher foods to the area, minimizing and ultimately eliminating the need to shlep to Toronto for your kosher needs.
Imagine....
...Going to a local store to pick up fresh, kosher challah for your Shabbat dinner.
..."We need more burgers and hot dogs - can you run out and pick up some kosher ones"?
...Having company that eats strictly kosher? Host them without worry and without hassle!
But we need your help!
The plan: Of course, we'd love to have everything that is available in Toronto available here as well, but that will take some time. Initially, we are of the opinion that starting with Challah and other kosher baked goods, as well as an enhanced freezer section including burgers, hot dogs, pizza and more is eminently practical.
A project such as this is not done as a charity move; rather, it depends on maximum community involvement for it to succeed and grow. Having kosher food more readily available is one of the areas we must improve on if we ever intend to become a viable choice for young Jewish families to settle here.
Please fill out this short form so that we can report back to Sobeys with some concrete data.
Thank you for your participation - together we can make Jewish life here taste that much better!
