Currently, Chabad offers the following opportunities for students to explore their Jewish heritage and identity. All classes are held at Chabad unless otherwise noted:
Girls Club: Exclusive classes and events for ladies only, led by Rivky Goldman.
Sinai Scholars: An 8 week course on the fundamentals of Judaism, Wednesdays from 8:00-10:00 PM
This is a highly popular program developed by our national office and currently offered at over 200 campuses across North America. Program also includes a full Shabbat experience at Chabad, writing a reflection paper and a field trip to a major Jewish community. Participants who successfully complete the program are eligible for a $350 USD stipend. Click here to apply - you must be accepted to attend. Course is limited to 10 participants per semester.
Lunch and Learn on campus:
Every Thursday Chabad offers lunch (deli sandwiches from Farm Boy) and learn (a 15-20 minute Torah lesson with modern takeaways) on each campus.
Laurier: Arts 2C11 at 12:00 PM. Waterloo: SLC 3108 at 1:30 PM.
Yeshiva Night: Every Thursday night from 8:00-9:00, Chabad hosts Yeshiva Night, for independent "chavruta" study. Students can come with a pre-arranged study partner and selected Torah text, or just show up and study alone, with their choice of Torah texts. The rabbi is happy to recommend a book; just ask!
Alternatively - sign up for a mini course through JewishU, Chabad on Campus' program of ongoing Jewish education for students. The class runs on Thursdays during Yeshiva night. See current courses at jewishwaterloo.com/jewishu.
Dinner is included for participants in either track.
