High Holidays 2022/5783

  • Welcome to Chabad's High Holiday services!

The Hebrew word for prayer is "Tefillah," which also means "self evaluation." We believe that old stuffy services can be reinvigorated with an emphasis on personal growth and reflective meditation, and our services are designed to allow and encourage precisely that.

Whether your background in Jewish prayer and practice is extensive or limited, the services will leave you feeling enriched, connected, uplifted and energized to start your New Year in the most meaningful way. Hebrew/English prayer books are used throughout the service. Rabbi Goldman provides an English running commentary of explanatory and meaningful insights. It's time for a reset; join us!

All services will take place outdoors in a spacious tent in the backyard of the Chabad House, 251 Albert Street.

Please bring your own kipa/tallit , if possible. We will have limited new kipas available.

There is no charge for attending services or meals at Chabad, thanks to our generous supporters. However, RSVPs are required to attend.

  • Additional information:

Can't come for the entire Rosh Hashana service? Come for the highlight: Sermon+Shofar will be at approximately 12:00 PM on Monday and Tuesday of Rosh Hashana, and will take about 25 minutes. RSVP to the morning service to attend the Sermon+Shofar.

There will be a shofar ceremony before each of the Rosh Hashana dinners as well.

Yom Kippur 2022 fast times for the Waterloo Region:

Fast begins Tuesday, 10/4 at 6:40 PM.

Fast ends Wednesday, 10/5 at 7:38 PM.

Our best tips for a physically stress-less fast: drink LOTS of water throughout the day preceding Yom Kippur (extra psychological edge: drink smart water, gatorade/powerade for the electrolytes) and have a spoonful of honey just before the fast begins. Have an easy fast!
